Cardiac MRI: Standardized Right and Left Ventricular Quantification by Briefly Coaching Inexperienced Personnel
نویسندگان
چکیده
MRI quantification of the cardiac ventricles is time-consuming, especially for the right ventricle due to its complex geometry. Using a short axis MRI protocol, we tested if briefly coaching persons inexperienced in cardiac MRI provides reliable right and left ventricular quantification. 22 healthy subjects (mean age 26 ± 4.2 years) underwent short-axis breath-hold SSFP sequence cardiac MRI. Two persons inexperienced in cardiac MRI independently traced endocardial and epicardial contours of both ventricles with a predefined contour tracing protocol. Measurements were repeated after visual correction of each two most basal slices of the endocardial contours and epicardial contours in the learning curve. Five random short-axis cines were retraced for intraobserver variability. Measurements were performed blinded within 4 months. Agreement was assessed with the Bland-

The Correlation between Left and Right Ventricular Ejection Fractions in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease, Documented by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Introduction: The correlation between right and left ventricular ejection fractions (RVEF and LVEF, respectively) has been studied in only a small number of patients with a marked decrease in RVEF and LVEF. The aim of the present study was to compare LVEF and RVEF in patients with ischemic heart disease. RVEF and LVEF were measured by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. Materials a...
متن کاملRight ventricular Hemodynamic Alteration after Pulmonary Valve Replacement in Children with Congenital Heart Disease
Introduction: In patients who underwent surgery to repair Tetralogy of Fallot, right ventricular dilation from pulmonary regurgitation may be result in right ventricular failure, arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. Hence, pulmonary valve replacement may be necessary to reduce right ventricular volume overload. The aim of present study was to assess the effects of pulmonary valve replacement on rig...
متن کاملComparison of Cardiac Function in Young Patients with Thalassemia Intermedia and Healthy Individuals Using Echocardiography Method
Background: Cardiac dysfunction due to chronic anemia and hemosiderosis are the major causes of death among patients with thalassemia intermedia. This study was performed to compare the cardiac function in thalassemia intermedia patients with normal subjects by means of echocardiography. Materials and Methods: This was a case-control study performed on 22 patients affected by thalassemia int...
متن کاملQuantification of Right and Left Ventricular Function with Real-time Three-dimensional Ultrasound
Abstroct-This paper presents a study for validation of real-time three-dimensional ultrasound as a diagnostic tool in patients with primary pulmonary hypertension. Dynamic analysis of the heart is performed via quantification of right and left ventricle volumes. Segmentation of ventricular cavities is performed via a deformable-model for a set of denoised frames spread over an entire cardiac cy...
متن کاملAnalysis of right ventricular function in healthy mice and a murine model of heart failure by in vivo MRI.
Because of its complex geometry, assessment of right ventricular (RV) function is more difficult than it is for the left ventricle (LV). Because gene-targeted mouse models of cardiomyopathy may involve remodeling of the right heart, the purpose of this study was to develop high-resolution functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for in vivo quantification of RV volumes and global function in...
